Snow Day!

Our second snow day of the week!  I'm glad that it is actually a snow day, and not another ice day.  It was not fun playing outside yesterday.  We sure had fun outside this morning.  We went sledding, did some shovelling and made a snow girl!  Anthony rolled the middle ball all by himself, and the younger children helped me make the other two balls.  Our snow girl even has a ponytail (there are sticks in her head - you can't really see it in this picture, but you may notice it when you pick up or drop off your children!)

A note on the caterpillars.  I have finally seen a caterpillar eat - and they do like lettuce.  They sleep a lot, and poop a lot.  We managed to keep them alive over the weekend. The children are still enjoying watching them, but I'm not sure that they will make it through the holidays (I'm getting tired of feeding them).  Maybe they will turn to butterflies before then???

Caterpillars in winter???

You won't believe what we found on the driveway while walking out to the bus this morning.  A caterpillar!  It was walking across the snow and ice.  We had to leave it to catch the bus, but I told the children I'd get it on the way back and bring it in.

On our way back to the house, I could NOT find the caterpillar.  We walked a little farther and found TWO more.  Can you believe it?  We brought them in to warm up.  And I took pictures because I wouldn't believe it if someone told me about caterpillars in the snow!

Here they are as soon as we got in.  Curled up and cold.
They finally did stretch back out.  I added a lettuce leaf and carrot stick - what do caterpillars eat in the winter????

They both crawled under the lettuce leaf and spent the morning there.  I am doing this blog at nap time, and one caterpillar is eating the lettuce.  The other one is still hiding.

                                                      I'll keep you posted!

Sledding!

There is hardly enough snow for this, but the children loved it!  I loved hearing their giggles.

Santa's Toy Workshop!

The children loved playing in Santa's workshop today.  They were so busy that they wouldn't pose for me, so these are real pictures of them working!

Elf Lillian thinks that Elf Anthony is too loud with his hammer.

Elf Wyatt is trying to figure out the chainsaw!
Elf Allie almost posed for me.  Elf Tristian is doing some serious toy building with the hard hat on!
Elf Bronwynn is building the house.  (Must be witnessing some renovations at home!!)

The other day, Bronwynn and Anthony were into some serious tree redecorating.  It was funny to watch them.  Bronwynn was telling Anthony that the decorations had to be moved because Nancy wanted them to be moved.  Tristian sat and watched them for about 5 minutes.  He didn't offer to help, but seemed very interested in what the were doing!

More building...

The children are really into a building stage right now.  Many of them build something and then ask me to take a picture to put on the blog:)

Every year, I wrap empty boxes to put under the Christmas tree.  This year they have really enjoyed using the presents to build towers!

Tristian's tower is getting tall, and he is anticipating it falling!

 Look at that smile!
The girls are working together so nicely, and obviously very happy!

Wyatt seemed to be trying to build a tower inside the train car.
Anthony liked using the wooden blocks for his creation.
The older kids are still enjoying the mighty magnets.  This is a flying saucer.

I love how after building with the mighty magnets, he drew what he had built.  Remember the salamander and the house from a previous post on my blog?  And the flying saucer is in this picture too!

Building with Christmas Presents!

Allie and Lillian were just too cute while they were building with the presents.  I couldn't explain the giggling, so I thought I'd attempt a video on here to show you.  I hope it works.
