Getting ready for daycare 2014!

Hey, all

Just wanted to let you know that Lillian, Anthony and I gave the day care room a good cleaning!  We scrubbed the baseboards, dusted the cobwebs out of the corners of the ceilings, and change things around a bit for January!  I'm excited to start the New Year, but right now I am enjoying my holidays.  Time for some relaxation and family!  Hope you're all enjoying the holidays.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Well, it is our last day of daycare for 2013!  I hope you are all able to have a little bit of time off to enjoy with family and friends over the holidays.  The children are so excited to go to the school and see the Christmas concert this afternoon.  Thanks to all who rearranged your week so that I could go to the concert!

Here is a picture from yesterday of A.J.  He asked me to tell Daddy not to let Grandma drop him off at daycare anymore because when Grandma and Nancy get together he ends up looking beautiful in a dress!!!!  (But doesn't he look happy?!!)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Can't wait to see you all back the week of January 6th!!

Dress up clothes.

These two cousins have enjoyed spending some extra time together this work.
So each week, when I change the toys, I always think of the children in my care and what they will enjoy.  I thought Bronwynn and Lillian would enjoy the dress up clothes because they tend to play more often with each other in their imaginary game than with any of the toys.  They have really been enjoying them so far!  And all the boys seem to love the dump truck, tow truck and the wooden blocks!

Christmas is a busy time!

We have been busy creating.  The younger children are starting to work on Christmas crafts for their parents, so I can't show any pictures of what we've been up to.  I have the art shelf stocked with Christmas paper, stickers, sparkly pipe cleaners etc.  The children have been making some interesting things of their own that may have made their way home.  The children are also enjoying the tools and Santa/elf hats in Santa's work shop.  We have been singing a wonderful song all about waiting for Christmas - which is what we are all doing now!!

So glad to see the snow again today - we really enjoy sledding and shovelling.  When it is warm enough we enjoy making snowpeople and big snowballs.  Lots of winter fun going on!

The first snow day!

Well, we had the first snow day of the school year, and what a beautiful winter day to be outside!!!
Anthony and Lillian were both full of smiles!

A.J. finished his breakfast outside, and Allie is all smiles before she sleds down the hill!

A.J.'s favourite place for a nap - all bundled up in the stroller!

 Snow angels...
Lillian and Allie wanted to be tucked in!
We had some special visitors.  I loved having all the extra helping hands of four older girls!

We were so excited to see our visitors arrive on snowmobiles!!

We love snow days!!

Christmas is less than a month away!

Well, Christmas is now less than a month away.  We are starting to wrap 'presents' (empty boxes) and we are going to try setting up our Christmas tree this afternoon.  Stay tuned for some pictures of this exciting time!

Room change

I have old sheets that I have had out for the children to make forts with since the summer time.  It started as a fort, and then these three girls worked together all morning and I think they moved every piece of furniture around in the day care room! (And helped me move it all back at lunch time!!)
I really enjoyed watching them co operate!
A.J. was a little confused when he woke up from his nap and then seemed to enjoy the room change.
I had hidden Hallowe'en rings in leaves in the sensory table, and finally got around to changing it yesterday.  I asked Allie to help me find the rings and she decided to sort them into colour groups.  What a great pre math activity!  I love all the learning that can take place when I follow your child(ren)'s lead!

A little bit of everything!

Boy, it sure is hard to come up with titles for my blog some weeks.  We just get busy, and sometimes it's not just one thing we are doing.  Hope you enjoy these pictures.  Thanks for looking.
A.J. sure is enjoying his steering wheel, gear shift etc.
Look at the helicopter Carson made!
Bronwynn, and Lillian had a great time helping me make lemon bread for snack!

What have we been up to?

After our crazy Hallowe'en week, I haven't had a chance to update the blog.  It's been kind of a busy week.  The children have been busy with many activities.

There is a lot of art/creating going on this morning (with two 3 year olds and a 4 year old).  We've made poppies and talked a little bit about remembrance day.  Lillian is now drawing dead soldiers!!

Before school, everyone was busy with the K'nex.  It was neat to see the older boys working together, and the younger children were right in there with them, and everyone was sharing the pieces.  It was great.

We've been playing a lot in the long grass in the ditches outside.  A lot of hide and seek!

We also had the sheets out for tents and used the tunnel to get into our tents.

Thanks for reading!

Hallowe'en Party #2

Hallowe'en is finally here!  Black and orange/costume day.  Here's a picture before school.
Here's the gang for the day.
Thanks to all the moms and dads who dressed your children for the occasion.  We had face painting, felt jack-o-lanterns, fall puzzles, pumpkin memory, and pin the face on the jack-o-lantern.  Thanks to Bronwynn and family for bringing in rice krispie pumpkins for snack!

Carving Jack - o - lanterns

The children were so excited and couldn't wait to get into the goop!

The excitement didn't last, and I found myself alone.  I figured we could finish it the next day.
Not only did we finish the pumpkin from yesterday (it's the one Allie is holding), we made another one.  What fun!

Hallowe'en Party #1

On Monday, after school we had a Hallowe'en Party.  A big thank you to Grace for coming to help me.  You made it so run much smoother for me.  I was also excited that Carson and Lexi were able to come over to join us, and Oden, Freya and Tina came too!  This year, I moved the furniture around a little bit and made different stations so that the children could do whichever activity they wanted to do instead of waiting for everyone to do the activities together.  We had a cupcake decorating table that most children tried first;)  A bobbing for apple station - a big hit again!  Egg on spoon races in the middle of the room.  Pin the face on the Jack-o-lantern.  Hallowe'en headband decorating station, and below is a picture of our face painting station.  The actual party was pretty busy, and I didn't even make it to my camera to take any pictures.  Sorry.  But here are a few that I took before we went out the bus....

Allie has a butterfly that has her name right in it!

Hallowe'en week!

We are busy getting ready for our Hallowe'en Fun Week next week!  This morning we painted a pumpkin for our 'pin the face to the jack o lantern' game!  I have been busy planning a menu, and getting things ready!
Monday afterschool is our first PARTY!  Face painting, bobbing for apples, Hallowe'en snack....  Please wear orange and black for this party (or your costumes if you want).

Tuesday and Wednesday - Pumpkin Carving.  What a fun Hallowe'en activity - can't wait to get goopy!  Maybe we'll even try roasting some seeds.

Thursday morning - another Hallowe'en party.  Please wear orange and black or your costume.  This one will be geared to preschool and kindergarten children - complete with a special snack, lunch and dessert!!

Get ready for the excitement!

Hallowe'en is coming!!!!

Hallowe'en Costumes!

What a busy week last week!  I put the Hallowe'en costumes out and the children loved dressing up.  I took many pictures for the blog, but always ran out of time by the end of the day to get on the computer.  Here they are.... (better late than never!!!)

Not sure if A.J. is trying to dress up as fire fighter, or if he is just trying to crawl over that hat?!

                                                         Anyone know these witches?!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We've been practicing our hand - eye co ordination with our turkey and stuffing.
Wyatt didn't leave the sand table and tractors all morning!

The girls have been playing with the dishes and food all week.  They even made a dish washer, and loaded it, but when I got my camera to take a picture they had unloaded it.  They've also really enjoyed cleaning (ie. sweeping the sand with the small broom and dust pan)!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  Hope you all have a great weekend, and I'll see you Tuesday!
