First day of summer holidays.

Here is our first project.  We are making summer 'folders' to hold all of our journals, workbooks etc.  I love how everyone is helping each other out in this picture:)
Here are the end products!  I think they look great!

Last Day of School:)

What a fun but crazy afternoon!!  5:00pm came so quickly.  I think we all had fun - I did anyways!
Here is what was left after having our ice cream sundaes!
Luckily Allie likes to pose for pictures, so I got her in the sprinkler!
Here's Bronwynn playing in the sprinkler!
Noah is playing with a toy frog that if you pull the string, the frog 'swims'.  Then I put my camera down, and watched the chaos.  There were water gun fights, chasing Grace the dog with water, a small slide in the pool.... FUN TIMES!  Have a great summer to all that are away for the summer.  For the rest of us - we've got lots of fun activities planned, it should be a fun summer!
Stay tuned...

Busy, Busy, Busy.....

Wow, we have been busy!  I haven't had a chance to update this with being sick last week, and then the excitement of the end of the school year.

Here's what we've been up to... we made some Canada Day T-shirts, we went to see the JK celebration at the school, we've been weeding the garden, and watching our plants grow especially after all of the heat and thunderstorms!  On the farm, we made our pig pen bigger, so that is exciting to see the pigs rooting in their 'pasture'!

I have been busy making up summer menus - they really take a long time to get organized; I will post them on here when they are all finished.  I have been working on summer programming - I think we will have a fun summer filled with a lot of learning, and I can't wait to start!  Also, Grace will be back to help this summer, so that is exciting.

Today we say bye to some of our school friends who will be heading out on different adventures over the summer.  We set up the pools, water table, and sprinkler for this afternoon, and we are going to make our own ice cream sundaes.  Should be fun.  A parent also sent in candy kabobs!  What a fun afternoon we will have.  Check back soon, and I'll post some pictures of our end of year party!!

Thanks for looking at my blog:)

Gardening Journals

We started using our gardening journals this morning.  I was so impressed with the children.  I brought out a basket of pencil crayons and crayons, and explained how to use a journal.  They all shared the pencils, and coloured and practiced letters while they waited for me to help them write in their journals.  Great job everyone:)

Afterwards, we weeded the garden, and planted some more lettuce and carrots.  Its been a lot of fun so far.  I'm excited for our first 'meal' from the garden!!

Worms and slugs

Well, we had two very wet walks to the bus yesterday.  Luckily Oden's mom was able to drive the youngest children up to the house after the bus in the morning because it was really pouring.  Thanks, Tina.

This morning the sun was out and we found many worms and slugs on the driveway.  Bronwynn had her hands full of worms 'to take to her home' (don't worry Mom and Dad, I convinced her to leave them on the driveway).  We found many slugs under the trees on the driveway, but nowhere else.  The worms were scattered everywhere.  We weren't as brave with the slugs and just watched them.  Then we read a story all about worms at circle time, Diary of a worm by Doreen Cronin, pictures by Harry Bliss.  The girls sure were interested in it!

Wonder what we'll find this afternoon?

How many boots?

We are enjoying this felt story!  It's fun while we practise counting.  Oden can count to 5 now!  (He misses 2, but he's still so young:))

How many boots should a duckling buy
To keep her feet nice and dry?
Let's count her feet and then we'll know.
I can count, watch me go!
One, two! - Two new boots is what she should buy to keep her feet nice and dry.

Dancing, 4 wheeler and umbrellas

I'm not sure why, but I find the children always have a little more energy on windy days.  We pushed the table out of the way and turned on some music, and danced!
Allie seemed to be break dancing!

Two older boys followed the instructions and were able to make this 4 wheeler with the K'Nex.  I enjoyed watching them work together, and help each other.  It was great!

One of our spring felt stories.  First we practice counting the 5 umbrellas....
... 5 umbrellas by the back door, the red one went outside, then there were four.  4 umbrellas pretty as can be, the yellow one went outside, then there were three.  3 umbrellas with nothing to do, the green one went outside, then there were two.  2 umbrellas not having much fun, the blue one went outside, then there was one.  Just one umbrella all alone in the hall, the orange one went outside, and that was all!
