Hallowe'en Party #2

Hallowe'en is finally here!  Black and orange/costume day.  Here's a picture before school.
Here's the gang for the day.
Thanks to all the moms and dads who dressed your children for the occasion.  We had face painting, felt jack-o-lanterns, fall puzzles, pumpkin memory, and pin the face on the jack-o-lantern.  Thanks to Bronwynn and family for bringing in rice krispie pumpkins for snack!

Carving Jack - o - lanterns

The children were so excited and couldn't wait to get into the goop!

The excitement didn't last, and I found myself alone.  I figured we could finish it the next day.
Not only did we finish the pumpkin from yesterday (it's the one Allie is holding), we made another one.  What fun!

Hallowe'en Party #1

On Monday, after school we had a Hallowe'en Party.  A big thank you to Grace for coming to help me.  You made it so run much smoother for me.  I was also excited that Carson and Lexi were able to come over to join us, and Oden, Freya and Tina came too!  This year, I moved the furniture around a little bit and made different stations so that the children could do whichever activity they wanted to do instead of waiting for everyone to do the activities together.  We had a cupcake decorating table that most children tried first;)  A bobbing for apple station - a big hit again!  Egg on spoon races in the middle of the room.  Pin the face on the Jack-o-lantern.  Hallowe'en headband decorating station, and below is a picture of our face painting station.  The actual party was pretty busy, and I didn't even make it to my camera to take any pictures.  Sorry.  But here are a few that I took before we went out the bus....

Hallowe'en week!

We are busy getting ready for our Hallowe'en Fun Week next week!  This morning we painted a pumpkin for our 'pin the face to the jack o lantern' game!  I have been busy planning a menu, and getting things ready!
Monday afterschool is our first PARTY!  Face painting, bobbing for apples, Hallowe'en snack....  Please wear orange and black for this party (or your costumes if you want).

Tuesday and Wednesday - Pumpkin Carving.  What a fun Hallowe'en activity - can't wait to get goopy!  Maybe we'll even try roasting some seeds.

Thursday morning - another Hallowe'en party.  Please wear orange and black or your costume.  This one will be geared to preschool and kindergarten children - complete with a special snack, lunch and dessert!!

Get ready for the excitement!

Hallowe'en Costumes!

What a busy week last week!  I put the Hallowe'en costumes out and the children loved dressing up.  I took many pictures for the blog, but always ran out of time by the end of the day to get on the computer.  Here they are.... (better late than never!!!)

Not sure if A.J. is trying to dress up as fire fighter, or if he is just trying to crawl over that hat?!

                                                         Anyone know these witches?!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We've been practicing our hand - eye co ordination with our turkey and stuffing.
Wyatt didn't leave the sand table and tractors all morning!

The girls have been playing with the dishes and food all week.  They even made a dish washer, and loaded it, but when I got my camera to take a picture they had unloaded it.  They've also really enjoyed cleaning (ie. sweeping the sand with the small broom and dust pan)!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  Hope you all have a great weekend, and I'll see you Tuesday!

Fall Trees

The children enjoyed using q-tips and fall colours to paint fall trees today.  I love to see how they made their own trees.  They drew their own tree trunks and then added their leaves.

Caterpillar in my living room!

While A.J. was having a nap, Lillian invited Allie to play in the living room.  They were playing with dolls and the telephone in a world of make believe.  I was listening to them, and then Lillian said, "There is a little caterpillar."  I thought it was part of their game.  Then Allie went to Lillian and started talking about the caterpillar.  Allie said, "Nancy, you should come see this."  I went over so that I could see beside the loveseat where they were playing, and sure enough there was a caterpillar there!!!  Wish Bronwynn would have been here today to take it outside for me:)

A.J. was really enjoying chewing on one of the letters for the mail box.  So glad Lillian decided she didn't need this baby toy, and gave it to my collection of day care toys!

Watermelon de-seeder????

Well, we tried ironing leaves between waxed paper this morning.  I thought I should ask and see if the children knew what an iron was.  My children have never seen me use one!!  Bronwynn piped up, "It's for watermelon.  That's how you take the seeds out of the watermelon."  Looking at the bottom of the iron, I could see how she would think that.  Allie said, "No, it's for clothes."

Great conversation, that really made my day, so I thought I should share it.

Scare crow

Be sure to take notice of the scare crow that is waiting to greet you when you pick up/drop off your child(ren).  We went out to the barn today to make that.  Then had to have a game of hide and seek in the straw before coming back in for lunch.  Great fall morning!
