Last entry

I guess this will be my last entry! We've had a good week.  Lots of warmer weather to enjoy outdoor play. Before the bus, the older kids have been working on a hole in the snow. They were pretending to go ice fishing in it! And today, it is big and deep enough that they can fit in up to their shoulders. It was so funny to see their heads sticking out if the snow! Wish I had had the iPad with me to get a photo of it!!

Freya and Edison went out to see the chickens this morning. I guess the chickens forgot the kids over the cold winter, they were quite unsettled to have little visitors with them. (I couldn't help but wonder if Freya was wondering why the chickens were trying to get away from her. I'm sure hers don't!!)

Well...best of luck to all of you. Please don't be strangers. If our white truck is here, I probably am too, so stop in for a visit. If you ever need anything in the future, please ask.

Bring on the soccer season! Can't wait for that opportunity to reconnect with many of you!

All my love,
Nancy

Dancing!

What an emotional week for me as I'm sure it's been for all of you.  I am happy to hear most of you are on your way to finding new child care for your children.

We have been sledding outside and playing on the snow hill! Glad it is finally warm enough to actually stay outside for a bit!
We've been doing a lot of dancing inside! Oden loves my Tigger CD and asks for it often. Today they decided to wear their hats while dancing.  Even Freya was able to ask me for help to get her hat. So cute! I tried to get a picture of them dancing, but Eddie decided it was time to wrestle, and Oden was game!!!

Busy week

Happy birthday, AJ. We were so excited to meet your sister, Becky! And thanks for sharing your cupcakes with us!

We made some new play dough this week. After mixing the ingredients, Oden thought it was play dough and we could play with it. He quickly changed his mind when he touched it! It was gooey!  We decided to try cooking it, and then it really looked like play dough. We had to be a little careful afterwards, it was HOT, but quickly cooled down. We all enjoyed pouring ingredients into the bowl and stirring! This was a great math and science activity for Oden and fine and gross motor activity for the younger ones.

Most mornings, we stayed inside and had extra playtime. (Thanks to AJ's family for driving the school kids to the bus.) When we did get out, we've been having a blast on the snow hill, for some of us, just climbing up is a great experience. Others jump off, or make slides, and we've even added a few snowballs to the top of it!  We've also rediscovered the shovels, we've been digging in the big drifts at the end if the lane way, and also scraping paths all along the driveway!

Lots of winters stories for circle this week. The kids really enjoyed my cat and kitten finger puppets for the three kittens had lost their mittens rhyme.

I am looking forward to some warmer winter weather.  I want to build some snowmen!!! Hopefully next week....

A little late ... valentine recap!

A huge thanks to all families for adding to our party... with treats and Valentines, dressing kids in pink or red... A big thank you to AJ's Oma and Oden and Freya's mom for doing bus duty in their warm vehicles so the little ones could stay in where it was warm (and eat more sugar!!)
The highlight of our party was the parachute. It was fun for us to just hold onto it and shake it! And giving out Valentines was a lot of fun too!

Hmmm...can't get my picture of our heart shaped pizza or all the goodies to upload. Use your imagination!!!

Warmer winter day!

What a nice morning! We all enjoyed our walk this morning. Even Freya got out of the sled and walked for most of it! The boys and I kicked hard snow balls down the driveway. Then they stomped on them and crushed them.  It seems calmer inside this morning after actually getting play time outside! Can't wait to go out earlier this afternoon too! We had 3 skate bags to go to school, so I'm sure they'll be enjoying the outdoors today too!

Trucks!

AJ brought some trucks to share today. They have been struggling to fit the wooden blocks into the tiny buckets, and are now driving them around the table. Lots of fun!

Play dough

We got the play dough out again. Since Edison wasn't here last week, the first thing he did was taste it! Then Freya thought she should try it too. I told them "no, yucky", and now they are busy trying to cut it with the plastic knives.  Oden is even making worms and balls. So glad to be using play dough again. The kids love it!

A couple photos...

Oden enjoyed mixing the colours of play dough together.  Below, Dr. AJ was available to see patients today. He put Lillian to bed with a blanket and told me, "Shhhh." Way below is Freya playing with the boogie board. She loves to use writing utensils.

A chubby little snowman....

Here are the words to our favourite finger play....
A chubby little snowman had a carrot nose
Along came a rabbit, and what do you suppose?
That hungry little bunny, looking for some lunch....
ATE the snowman's carrot nose. Nibble, nibble, crunch.

Play dough

Thanks, Will for driving kids to bus this morning. (And Jenn for offering!)

We had extra time and got the play dough out and had a great time. It is getting old and dried out, but they had fun mixing colours. Nobody tried to eat it, so we are getting to an age where we can do these activities more! Making new play dough is always a fun activity.

As soon as we put the play dough away all the 'regular' toys were mouthed though!

Cold weather won't stop us!

What a cold and blustery day out there. I had only big kids for the walk out to the bus this morning. It was neat for me to watch them. (They often run up ahead me and the younger ones). Carson pulled each one of them in the sled with all the back packs.  As each one was asked to give the next a turn, there was no arguing. They just took turns and then ran with Carson if it wasn't their turn for a ride.  When we reached the bus shelter, I was so thankful for the chance to get out of the wind, but they all got dump trucks and shovels out and built a road together. (We'll, Carson laid down fir a break first!) We were all covered except for our eyes peeking out. And they didn't even feel the cold. They just enjoyed each other's company!!

Brrrrr

What a cold week we've been having. We have been bundling up and making our walk shorter. I was so grateful this morning when AJ's mom called and offered to drop him off later and drive the kids out to the bus. Thank you, Jenn!

Thanks, Oden and Freya for giving us some of your old toys. AJ loves them!

Welcome back!!!

I am so excited to share some pictures with you! We got an IPad as a family gift, and my family are all at school or work, so I actually get a turn on it! I took some pictures to share with you!
AJ is busy filling and dumping!

Edison can't wait for snack time!
